Dr. Madhav Chavan, CBC Alum, receives Columbia University service award

Madhav Chavan, Pratham Co-Founder and President, obtained his PhD in Chemistry from OSU then went onto serve as a faculty member at the University of Houston. Chavan then decided to return to India where he worked in the slums of Mumbai with the National Literacy Mission. In 1995, he then co-founded Pratham to address problems of universal primary education in Mumbai. Most recently, Chavan received the Teachers College, Columbia University's Medal for Distinguished Service. This award is fitting considering Madhav's work in bettering children's education in Mumbai. Congratulations on this well-deserved award!
