Two molecular handshakes for hearing

Marcos Sotomayor

Tiny filaments inside our inner ears help convert noises into electrical signals sent to our brains for processing. Now, scientists led by Marcos Sotomayor, associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry, have mapped those filaments at the atomic level, potentially helping researchers learn more about how and why people lose their hearing.
