Edward J. Behrman received a B. S. from Yale in 1952 and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1957 working with R. Y. Stanier. After post-doctoral research with W. E. Knox (Harvard) and J. O. Edwards (Brown), he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University in 1965. He retired in 2005 but still carries out research and teaches.

Research Overview

Synthesis and properties of biochemically important molecules. My research program is directed at the synthesis and detailed characterization via physical and chemical analyses of biochemically important molecules. These include sugars, nucleosides, nucleotides, and sugar nucleotides and other similar biomolecules. My laboratory employs mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, IR, and other techniques to determine the properties of compounds that we have synthesized.
