Honors Advising Information

Honors Program Advising

Students in the ASC Honors Program will have a team of advisors to help them navigate all of their course and honors requirements.  Honors students will have three different advisors that they can reach out to:

 

  1. Students will consult with their appointed ASC Honors Program counselor for procedural matters, information about general degree requirements, assistance with an Honors Contract, and for information about other special honors opportunities.  

                -To schedule with your Honors advisor, please navigate to the ASC Honors Program main page, and click the "schedule an appointment" button. 

                -You may also schedule an appointment by calling the ASC Honors Office at (614) 292-5104 and choosing option 1.

 

  1. For general advising about courses in your specific major (such as for questions about degree and course planning), honors students are suggested to schedule appointments with the CBC staff advisors as listed below:

                  Chemistry

                            -Dr. Mike Chang advises chemistry students whose last name begins with the letter A–H.

                            -Ms. Holly Wheaton advises chemistry students whose last name begins with the letter I–Z.

                          

                  Biochemistry

                            -Dr. Marie R. Southerland advises biochemistry students whose last name begins with the letter A–H.

                            -Ms. Angela LeCount Melamed advises biochemistry students whose last name begins with the letter I–Z.

                    

                  There are two ways to schedule an appointment with your CBC staff advisor:

                            -You can make an appointment with the appropriate advisor (as shown above) utilizing OnCourse. 

                                To do so, please select the following menu options when scheduling in OnCourse

                                               - For the Care Unit, select "Advising"

                                               - For the Location, select "Chemistry and Biochemistry Advising - 110 Celeste Lab"

                                               - For the Service, select "Explore/Declare a Major" (it is ok if this isn't what you will be discussing at the meeting)

                                               - You will then be able to select the appropriate advisor

                                     - Click here for the OnCourse instructions and login link

                            -During normal business hours, you can call the Undergraduate Studies Office at (614) 292-1204.

                            -Appointments cannot be scheduled by email.

                  Honors students can also see their assigned advisor for quick questions during the walk-in hours specified on the General Advising Information page.

 

  1. Faculty honors advisors (listed below) will advise students regarding upper level needs, including their Honors Research and Thesis Project, graduate program advice and advanced course selections:

                  -All biochemistry students: Dr. Jane Jackman. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Jackman, contact the Undergraduate Studies Office (see below).

                   -All chemistry students: Dr. Bern Kohler. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Kohler, contact the Undergraduate Studies Office (see below).
