Biography
Brad Smith grew up in Australia but has spent his entire academic career at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA where he is the Emil T. Hofman Professor of Science, and Director of the Notre Dame Integrated Imaging Facility. He is co-author of 320 research publications and his research group develops fluorescent molecular probes for microscopy, in vivo imaging, and phototherapeutics. Several of these fluorescent probes are commercially available for use in biomedical science, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. His group also works on various topics concerning supramolecular chemistry such host/guest self-assembly, membrane transport, sensing, and catalysis.
