Professor Watkins completed her Ph. D. at the University of Memphis and went on to complete a postdoctoral research position at the University of Florida before starting as an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi in 2014. Professor Watkins was presented the Oak Ridge Associated Universities Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award. Professor Watkins research interests include organic and materials chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, organic electronics, noncovalent interactions, semiconductors, biomaterials, optical electronic behavior, smart materials, and conjugated nanostructures.
